Etched frontispiece, Dali signed titlepage & 12 colored plates (heliogravures) all by Salvador Dali, 17 gatherings 1 blank gathering with a vertical crease, loose as issued in the publishers brown cloth portfolio, with Dali's facsimile signature in gilt to upper cover, all housed in the publishers quarter morocco over cream cloth clamshell box with leather (new) straps & bone clasps, edges a little faded, short joint crack at head. Limited to 2500 portfolios, printed on Mandeure paper (429*291 mm). (Michler/Löpsinger 321-333 b. - Monod 2305. Madan p246. Lindseth 2230 p205/48). Etchings and remarques were printed by Ateliers Rigal; the twelve illustrations were printed by M. Nourisson; the typography was set at the press of Ateliers Rogal. One of the most distinctive artistic reinterpretations of Lewis Carroll's text. Rather than narrating scenes literally, Salvador Dalí translates Wonderland into a surreal, dream-logic universe that mirrors the psychological strangeness already embedded in Carroll's story.
