Fabian Bachrach (1917-2010) took some of the most influential political portrait photographs of the 1960s and 1970s, most notably the photograph of John F. Kennedy which would become his official campaign image. He would have taken this picture of Nehru during one of his final visits to the USA either during his appearance at the UN in September 1960 or during his last ever state visit in November 1961. A studio black white photograph of Jawarhalal Nehru, signed by him to the lower margin, and taken by Fabian Bachrach, with his name gilt stamped to bottom right corner, one small scratch to background; in slightly later frame, overall size: 53.7 x 43.5 cm.
