Richmond, VA: The hotels, nd ca. 1855 . Printed trade card, 2 ¾, 4 ¼ inches, printed on white card stock, verso printing “Places of interest in and around Richmond, Va.” Both owned by John P. Ballard, the Exchange Hotel opened in 1841, the Ballard House in 1855, joined by a foot bridge across the street at the second level; the Exchange Hotel was demolished in 1900, replaced by the Jefferson Hotel.
