Together: Our Community Cookbook (foreword by HRH the Duchess of Sussex)
$17 · Offered by Kitchen Arts & Letters
The Hubb Community Kitchen was established in London following the terrible Grenfell Tower fire. Displaced families began using the kitchen at the Al-Manaar Muslim Cultural Heritage Centre to feed themselves; following a visit from Meghan Markle before her marriage to Prince Harry, they began compiling this book as both a fundraising mechanism and as a way of expressing solidarity across their various communities. The more than fifty recipes come from cooks of diverse backgrounds: spiced potato kibbeh from a family that arrived from Baghdad; spicy red lentils and greens from Ethiopia; Russian semolina cake; and even an eggplant masala from an Ugandan cook. It's all humble food, a panoply of comfort dishes that have helped restore order and community in a place rocked by tragedy. Hardcover. Color photographs throughout.
