SISKIND, Aaron (photo.); WHITMAN, Walt.

Song of the Open Road. First edition, number 184 of 550 copies signed by Siskind. Siskind's photographs are juxtaposed with Walt Whitman's free-verse poem Song of the Open Road. Whitman's discussions of "trodden crossings" and "interminable pavements" take on a more literal meaning in Siskind's photographs of the patchwork concrete roads of Rhode Island. This is a beautifully produced folio, with plates printed by the Renaissance Press on Richard de Bas paper, and text by Heritage Printers on Carterie Enrico Magnani paper.
