Vico and Herder. Two Studies in the History of Ideas. First collected edition, presentation copy, inscribed to the Italian journalist and art critic Aridea Fezzi (1940-2024), "In memory of a delightful conversation. Isaiah Berlin. 16 December 1994". The two essays in this book explore the consequences, and the validity, of conflating the progress of modern civilization with that of the natural sciences. Both have been revised, and the essay on Vico considerably expanded, for this edition. Fezzi's signed bookplate is on the front cover, while she has also signed the title page in blue ink.
