The Grey City of the North. First edition, inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper, "With love to Agnes, from her friend "Jake", Mark 17 1911", and additionally signed on Plate 21. Jake was King's nickname among her close friends. The recipient was Agnes Harvey, a silversmith, and part of the "Glasgow Girls" group. The two met during their time at the Glasgow School of Art.A volume focused on Glasgow, The City of the West, was published the following year.
