New Yorker magazine January 1 1949 SHMOO Al Capp interview Peter De Vries FINE

$250 · Offered by eBay

The New Yorker Magazine, January 1 1949, complete issue in gorgeous shape. Ilonka Karasz did the cover. This issue includes a Talk of the Town interview with "Li''l Abner" creator Al Capp by E J Kahn Jr discussing the harrowing intensity of the popularity of his Shmoos. This issue also includes the story "Open House" by Peter DeVries, "Curtain-Raiser" by Vladimir Nabokov, and more. The pages are crisp and clean, without a hint of foxing or any other staining, no writing, no creases, nothing missing, tight to the staples. Strictly graded Fine, with a 1/8" tear in the upper right edge otherwise Near Mint; it was put away when brand new (along with many others we have) by an obsessive New Yorker collector from whom we acquired it, untouched since new until now. Shipped in an archival sleeve with backing board. We have many other beautiful New Yorkers online now so please take a look. If there is an issue you are after please let us know.
