Clarke's debut novel won the Hugo, Locus, and Mythopoeic awards and was adapted into a 2015 television series starring Bertie Carvel and Eddie Marsan. The UK edition was also issued, without priority, in white boards with a white jacket. The novel was first published in America three weeks earlier.
