Wood-engraved print for Wuthering Heights. The artist's copy of this signed limited edition, one of 100 prints signed by Eichenberg in pencil, this copy being from his estate. This illustration of Heathcliffe was used to illustrate the cover art of Eichenberg's edition of 1943.Fritz Eichenberg (1901-1990) moved to the US in 1933 and quickly became acknowledged as one of the leading wood engravers of his generation, also illustrating such authors as Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, and Poe. The original blocks are now part of the Eichenberg Archive at Yale University's Sterling Library.
