De Chair (1911-1995) was an intelligence officer with "Kingcol", a flying column of fewer than 1,500 men under the command of Brigadier J. J. Kingstone. This tiny force was ordered from Palestine to Baghdad to deal with the "Golden Square" coup among pro-Nazi Iraqi military officers.The sequel to the author's The Golden Carpet, this work narrates the occupation of Baghdad and the opening of the campaign against the Syrian armies of Vichy France. The edition also included 470 copies in quarter morocco.
