Memoirs of British Generals distinguished during the Peninsular War. First edition, presenting brief biographies of 14 significant generals who served with the Spanish and Portuguese armies against France between 1808 and 1814. Cole (1793-1870) served with the Fusiliers in Europe during the Napoleonic Wars, being stationed in Paris in 1815. He later became renowned as the Dublin actor-manager Mr. Calcraft.
