Gravities. A Collection of Poems and Drawings. First edition, inscribed by Heaney on the title page to his close friend and patron Paul Sullivan, "Seamus Heaney, among the levities of Deerfield. May Day 1988". Sullivan, a Massachusetts stockbroker, hosted Heaney for dinner twice a week while the poet was lecturing at Harvard in the 1980s and 1990s. Selected for this collaborative piece are eight of Heaney's poems, with Noel Connor's graphic response to each on the facing page. This copy was acquired directly from Paul Sullivan's estate.
