In 1921 a mailing was sent to Pomeroy descendents offering them the opportunity to purchase for $14 one of only 400 leather bound copies of this detailed account of the Pomeroys since 1066. This Vol. 3 was then sent in 1922. As you will see the first owner used it to chart his/her Pomeroy roots. This particular volume is numbered 269. Included with the book is the original offering letter and a detailed explanation of the Pomeroy crest which is wonderfully printed in the book. My interest in the Pomeroys stemmed from their fact that in the last almost 400 years two of my male ancestors married Pomeroys. Twenty years ago my wife, son and I visited the Pommerage site in Normandy abandoned by the family to aide William The Conqueror. At the time of our visit the site was just a muddy mess, no great turreted stone walls just earthen berms. It was great fun to trace back 30+ generations (almost 1000 years) to an illicit affair of King Henry I.
