In the Heart of the Heart of Another Country. First edition, presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the title page: "Dear Laura, Love Etel". The recipient was most likely Laura Nader, a UC Berkeley anthropologist who collaborated on the influential 1994 book and exhibition Forces of Change: Artists of the Arab World with Adnan.The book collects a series of lyrical vignettes to depict the tensions of Arab/Western relations.
