1929 & 1930 The Scribbler – Spartanburg High School, Spartanburg, South Carolina Offered together are two original Spartanburg High School yearbooks from 1929 and 1930, covering the high school years of future U.S. Army General William Childs Westmoreland. Westmoreland, who later became one of the best-known American military commanders of the 20th century and commanded U.S. forces during much of the Vietnam War, attended Spartanburg High School before entering The Citadel and later the United States Military Academy at West Point. 1930 Scribbler: William Westmoreland is specifically listed as “Westmoreland, Childs” in the Junior Class roster. The book also contains the large Boys of Junior Class photograph associated with the roster. 1929 Scribbler: This yearbook dates from Westmoreland's attendance at Spartanburg High School and contains the freshman class photograph. The freshmen are not individually identified in the book. Condition: Both are original vintage yearbooks approximately 95+ years old. Some pages have condition issues and stains. The 1929 volume is hardcover and remains in good overall vintage condition for its age, with expected age/storage wear. The 1930 volume has its original flexible/soft cover, which shows noticeable exterior cracking, finish loss and edge wear. The interior is considerably better preserved than the exterior appearance might suggest. Please review all photographs carefully for exact condition. Additional photographs of the covers, bindin
