This book measures approx 5.5 in x 8.5 in and is 176 pages. Condition is excellent with a tight spine and binding and flat boards. Pages are bright and clean. There are some light underlinings by pen and some side notes, but are completely unobtrusive to sight. There is also a name inscribed on inside cover page. Freedom and Culture is a book by John Dewey. Published in 1939, the book is an analytical defense of democracy written in a time when democratic regimes had recently been replaced by non-democratic ones, and at a time when Marxism was considered a powerful political force. Sounds familiar doesn't it?
