A pristine time capsule of wartime correspondence. This incredibly rare stationery set remains exactly as it was sold at a PX or local shop during the height of the Second World War. Housed in its original kraft paper box, this set features a stack of unused patriotic postcards, each bearing a classic red and blue "POST CARD" banner and a "U.S." shield. The "Prop and Wings" Box: The cover of the box features the legendary "Prop and Wings" insignia—the mark of the airman. While labeled "U.S. Air Force," the reverse of the box features a printed 1942-1943 calendar, firmly placing this set in the early, pivotal years of American involvement in WWII. The box was manufactured by Charles Z. Brandt at 54 West 21st St., New York City, a known producer of wartime military supplies. Condition: The set is in exceptional vintage condition.
