This "Housewife" (Sewing Kit) was the essential tool for sewing on rank insignia, replacing lost buttons, or mending tears in the field. This particular example is a rare "complete" find, still housing its original wartime sewing supplies. The Pouch: Constructed from durable Olive Drab (OD7) Herringbone Twill (HBT), the signature fabric of the WWII combat uniform. The roll-up design features the original cotton ties and internal pockets for organizing bobbins, needles, and buttons. Original Contents Included: Star Bobbins: Three original American Thread Co. "Star" bobbins with period-correct thread. Wartime Buttons: A collection of authentic brown plastic uniform buttons and white undershirt buttons. The Essentials: Original metal thimble, safety pins, and a selection of sewing needles. Wool Darning Thread: A vintage 5-yard card of wool thread "Made in U.S.A." for heavier repairs.
