Quarter cream cloth and patterned papered boards with a paper title-label mounted on the front cover; covers a little worn and soiled; one plate and adjacent tissue guard stained in the top margin; a couple of trifling spots of foxing and other minor signs of age and handling; a good copy (internally in very good condition). Published to celebrate the 21st Anniversary of the Edinburgh University Women's Union, this compilation contains original contributions from women authors, including Katherine Mansfield ('Two Unpublished Sketches: Little Jean [and] Lucien') and Virginia Woolf ('A Woman's College from Outside'), as well as Ada Negri, Lucie Delarue-Mardrus, Emilia Pardo Bazán, Marion Angus, Violet Jacob and Fredegond Shove. Other literary contributors include Hilaire Belloc, Walter de la Mare and Hugh MacDiarmid. The plates are mainly from artwork by women artists, among them Jessie M. King, Phyllis Bone and Phoebe Traquair. Kirkpatrick B6 ('Of the 2000 copies printed 950 were bound with white cloth spines and 50 numbered copies with vellum spines.
