Henry as Governor of Virginia, printed document with manuscript insertions, c.345 x 450 mm., granting "seven hundred acres by survey bearing date the Twenty eighth day of January one Thousand Seven hundred and Eighty three lying and being in the County of Jefferson on the head of A North fork of Pollengers Creek," red wax and paper seal to bottom left corner, small hole to centre affecting odd word, foldlines, one or two small holes, splits to foldlines with neat tape repairs verso, occasional marginal staining, light toning, slight chipping and creasing to edges, 2nd December, 1785. *** Patrick Henry (1736-99) was an American politician and orator who was a Founding Father and served as Governor of Virginia twice. He is most well known for declaring "Give me liberty or give me death!" at the second Virginia convention in 1775.
