Three plates from 'The emperor of China's palace at Pekin : and his principal gardens, as well in Tartary, as at Pekin, Gehol and the adjacent countries...', etching and engravings with hand-colouring, on laid paper with watermarks of fleur-de-lis, each platemark approx. 300 x 310 mm (11 3/4 12 1/4 in), sheets approx. 345 x 385 mm (13 1/2 x 15 1/8 in), each with central folds, repairs to splitting and tears visible verso, some browning and staining to sheets, surface dirt, unframed, [printed for and sold by Robert Sayer, Henry Overton, Thomas Bowles, and John Bowles and Son, 1753]*** Extremely scarce publication, with little to no auction precedent for either the complete suite of 20 prints, or the prints in isolation.
