Gentle bend to the pages where the magazine was likely folded in half at some point and tucked into a jacket or bag. Pages inside clean and unmarked. Overall, Good condition. Contains the first appearance of Shirley Jackson's short story "The Lottery." Now considered a classic, the story initially upset so many readers that The New Yorker received more complaint mail than ever before. Readers wrote in demanding to know what she meant by the story and some canceled their subscriptions. A tangible piece of New Yorker literary history.
