First UK edition, first impression, trade issue, of Lawrence's insider account of his time in the RAF, the publication of which was delayed in Britain for almost three decades.An edition of 50 copies was published in America in 1936 to ensure copyright. Based on a late revision by Lawrence, the present version was then set up by Cape in 1948 but not released until after the death of an officer mentioned unfavourably in the text. Both the British and American editions were published in 1955, this UK edition with a simultaneous trade and limited issue.
