The Lady and the Panda. First British edition, telling the story of the first panda to be brought from China to the United States. Harkness, a New York socialite, journeyed from Shanghai to Sichuan in 1936 and located a panda cub in the province's bamboo forests. Named Su Lin, the cub became the main attraction at Brookfield Zoo in Chicago.This edition was published concurrently with the first American edition.
