A pilot for what is arguably the most historic harbor in the US, the site of the Mayflower's landing. However, owing to commercial development things changed over the years, and further guidance was required. This is a reissue of a 1768 broadside, published by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Our 1785 printing is rarer than the 1768 issue. OCLC shows 6 libraries holding copies. However only the Nichols Library at Faulkner University in Alabama, the University of Florida, and Simon Frazer University in Vancouver appear to hold actual hard copies. Bristol 6058 and Ford "Massachusetts Broadsides" also cite a copy of the 1785 issue at the Boston Public Library. Evans 10882 and Shipton Mooney 10882 list only the 1768 iteration. All the citations simply repeat the erroneous OCLC listing which gives the height of the broadside as 14 rather than 41 cm. Our copy is framed, with old fold lines and several tears or pinholes, professionally repaired, one of which obscures two letters. Some foxing along top and bottom edges, lighter tanning in a few spots. Generally very good condition.. 33.5 x 41 cm. Printed in two columns. .
