Lovely 1939 edition (First, thus) of Charles Dickens' holiday classic, the first to feature the watercolor illustrations of American painter William Mark Young (1881-1946), who did the frontispiece, front pastedown, internal plates, endpapers, & DJ art (we are also listing a cheaper copy without the DJ; please see our listing #024314). In 74 pages, with decorative red paper over red cloth-covered boards, this hardcover folio is in VG condition: very clean, reinforced binding strong & straight, pages creamy white with moderate tanning, but completely unmarked. Significant rubbing to extremities, bumped corners. The unclipped DJ is Good+, with heavier rubbing, many light creases & small chips, heaviest at corners & both ends of spine.
