This is a beautifully illustrated antique set of "Dealings with the Firm of DOMBEY AND SON, Wholesale, Retail and for Exploration" by CHARLES DICKENS. Circa 1890's (there is no date of publication stated); Chapman & Hall; London. Special "Gadshill Edition" with an Introduction and Notes by Andrew Lang. Complete set in two volumes. This set includes the original illustrations by "Phiz" (H.K. Browne). Gilt top page edges. "Printed from the edition that was carefully corrected by the Author in 1867 and 1868." Condition: Each volume has staining on the spine and the left edge of the front cover; the front cover of volume II also has a quarter-sized stain at the top-right corner, and staining at the right edge; the back cover of volume I also has a small stain at the bottom-right corner. Both volumes are tightly bound. Tiny cloth tears at the top 2 cover corner tips of volume I. The text pages of both volumes are in nice condition - lightly age-toned and clean with only some random foxing here and there; an occasional random page has a small tear at the outer edge from the pages being separated. The end papers and pastedowns of both volumes have heavier foxing. There are small, pink stains at the inner corner at the front of volume 2 between the end paper and pastedown. Bright gilt top page edges. Overall the set is in Good condition.
