A Soldier Reports. First edition, inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper: "To: Richard R. Woods - a comrade-in-arms in Vietnam - With best wishes always, W. C. Westmoreland, Feb. 22, 1977". Captain Richard Woods is named as Westmoreland's aide on page 40. Westmoreland was commander of US forces in Vietnam from 1964 to 1968, and was Army Chief of Staff from 1968 to 1972. His memoir covers his forty years of military service, focusing on Vietnam. He claims America could have won the war if it had the will.
