The Korean War. Inscribed by the author on the half-title "To Mr. Alexander Warwick with appreciation of an enjoyable visit in their delightful [unclear] 30 Sep 78. M. B. Ridgway, General, US Army, Retired".Ridgway tells how he succeeded MacArthur as Supreme Commander of the United Nations forces in Korea and "took over a bewildered and dispirited army, rebuilding it in a few short months during intensive hostilities into a spirited and victorious force" (jacket). Ridgway is particularly critical of MacArthur, whom he presents as leading the forces to the verge of defeat.This copy is a subsequent printing of the first edition ("first edition" omitted from the copyright page, price increased on the jacket front flap).
