The Queen's Silver Jubilee 1977. First and only edition of a document produced in extremely limited numbers. This restricted Ministry of Defence publication constitutes a concise but detailed internal record of the Army's involvement in the national celebrations marking the Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II in 1977. Issued the year following the celebrations, the volume is classified "For Official Use Only" and has the injunction "Not to be Destroyed" on its title page. No institutional or commercial copies have been traced; the foreword suggests that perhaps just eight copies were produced.It includes copies of the officially issued orders of ceremonial for the services held at St Paul's Cathedral, London, as well as at Glasgow and Llandaff Cathedrals, which themselves appear to be uncommon survivals.This copy is accompanied by a typed letter signed by General Sir Jack Harman, written on his official headed stationery in his capacity as Adjutant General, and addressed to Lieutenant Colonel Paul Adair, Assistant Adjutant General (Personal Services). Adair was responsible for the major military review held at Sennelager, North Rhine-Westphalia, which formed the military centrepiece of the Jubilee celebrations overseas. Harman remarks, "Rumour has it that Her Majesty greeted you with the words 'Not you again...' at Sennelager!
