The Log of the H.M.S. Providence 1791-1793. Facsimile edition, number 313 of 500 copies. This volume was reproduced from the original manuscript held in the Public Record Office, Kew. It also includes introductions by Lord Mountbatten and Stephen Walters, a renowned authority on Captain Bligh. This log charts Bligh's second breadfruit voyage, where he tried once more to transport the fruit from Tahiti to the West Indies. It also records his attempts to chart the courses and locations of the Bounty mutineers.Provenance: from the library of the naval collector Clive Richards, although unmarked as such. He particularly focused on Nelsonalia, owning "the finest collection of Nelson letters in private hands" according to The Telegraph.
