The English Paracelsians. First edition, inscribed by the seminal historian of science to the prominent collector of chemical literature, "To William Cole, Allen G. Debus, 12 March 1966", on the half-title. Cole, whose Chemical Literature, 1700-1860 was published in 1988, deposited much of his personal collection at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where highlights include a copy of Scheele's landmark Chemische Abhandlung von der Luft und dem Feuer (1777). The English Paracelsians was based on the thesis submitted by Debus (1926-2009) for his PhD studies at Harvard.
