Resolutions on Al-Quds Al-Sharif & Palestine Issued by the Islamic Summit Conferences. First edition of this special issue collecting resolutions pertaining to the Israel-Palestine conflict issued over the first seven Islamic Summit Conferences (1969-94). In the appendix, the special declaration made by the conference in 1997, they reaffirm their support for a two-state solution with Al-Quds (Jerusalem) as an integral part of Palestine. We have traced just four copies among institutional holdings.The OIC's Islamic Summits are the main venue at which general policy is discussed and agreed among member states. The first summit was held two years after the Six-Day War and less than a month after the arson attack on the Al-Aqsa Mosque, which proved foundational in forming the organization's approach to the Arab-Israeli conflict. As per their first resolution on the subject, "[our] Governments and people are firmly determined to reject any solution of the problem of Palestine which would deny Jerusalem the status it had before June 1967" (p. 10). Resolutions at later summits called for member states to sever ties with Israel, publicly support the Palestine Liberation Organization, and continue to print the Palestine stamp. In 1981 the organization declared a jihad to reclaim the holy city, recorded here on pages 35 and 36.
