U.A.R. R.A.U. 8 Years. First edition of this well-illustrated scarce book on the achievements of the United Arab Republic after its foundation in 1958. Initially uniting Egypt and Syria, it came to encompass Egypt alone, under Gamal Abdul Nasser, until its dissolution by Sadat in 1971. We have only traced two institutional copies. Most of the work, and the photographic illustrations, showcase key political activities carried out by Nasser. These include the distribution of land ownership among the fellaheen, the proclamation of the first constitution in 1956, and his visits to India, as well as images from the Suez Crisis. The book also offers numerous illustrations of artisan and industrial production, in Egypt and Syria.
