Al-khutūt al-'arīda fī kahrabat misr. First edition of this work on the electrification of Egypt, produced by Abdel Aziz Ahmed, chairman of the Electricity Commission and technical adviser. In 1956, a year after the publication of this book, Egypt would secure Soviet funding for the Aswan High Dam. We have traced only one institutional copy, at the American University in Cairo.A discussion of energy production and use in Egypt, including the strength of current infrastructure and the use of oil, is followed by one on hydroelectric power focusing on the Aswan water reservoir, and the project of establishing a power station in Aswan, which was eventually finalized in 1967, seven years into the construction of the High Dam. Two final sections deal with the nationalization of electricity, a year before Nasser announced the nationalization of the Suez canal, and the efficient exploitation of the North Delta Electricity Grid to supply municipalities. The illustrations include maps of the electricity grid, artesian water, and electricity generation.
