The handbook also advises on topics such as "Buildings of the Farm", "Drainage", and "Relations between Landlord and Tenant".The Cambridgeshire squire H. F. Eaton (d. 1875) has signed the half-title and filled the front free endpaper with an account of a catastrophic fire on his estate: "On Tuesday 15 March 1870 a fire broke out on Mr Charles Jenning's farm in which the whole of the farm buildings were destroyed". He has also annotated the rear free endpaper and a loosely inserted slip, recording the dates, locations, and species of the many trees he planted around Stetchworth House and Park.
