Gorbachev 11 May 1992").Steve Forbes is the chairman of Forbes Magazine, and was a presidential candidate in the 1996 and 2000 elections; his book label is loosely inserted.On 11 May 1992, Forbes hosted Gorbachev and his wife, alongside Ronald and Nancy Reagan, at Forbes Magazine's 75th anniversary celebration at Radio City Music Hall in New York. The event showed Forbes's documentary, "Happily Ever After? The 20th Century struggles for Democracy", charting the battles for democracy and capitalism, which featured Gorbachev's comments. "Steve Forbes gave each of the presidents' wives a Faberge Egg pendant and presented the former presidents with videos of the documentary and some popcorn to keep them company as they watch it. 'We might call it Capitalist Corn', he joked" (The Courier-News, 12 May 1992). Forbes had arranged Gorbachev's travels to the US, allowing him to use the Forbes corporate plane free of charge.Gorbachev's account of the 1991 Soviet coup attempt was published less than ten weeks after the event.
