A$300 · Offered by Douglas Stewart Fine Books

Sixth-plate ambrotype, 72 x 58 mm (sight); in an elliptical brass mat with ormolu preserver (no case); fully contemporary inscription in ink to backing paper verso: Bradworthy Vicarage, July 28th 1862 ; a very sharp image; the original cover glass has a crack at upper right corner. Sideview of the Bradworthy Vicarage, today a Grade II Listed building which serves as a residential care home. A group comprising a lady and two gentlemen are posed at lower left; the lady and the gentleman on her left are both holding what appear to be small documents, suggesting that the photograph was possibly commissioned to record a transaction of some kind.
