Muhādarat dhurūb jabhat al-tahrīr al-watanī al-bahrānīa. An otherwise unrecorded lecture delivered by Saif bin Ali (1937-2006), founder of National Liberation Front of Bahrain, at the Centre for Arabic Culture in Beirut on 22 March 1982.The lecture provides a critique of the post-independence government, insufficient citizens' rights and basic freedoms, and current "superficial solutions" to inflation and socio-economic issues. He refers especially to a recent interview given by the Bahraini minister of Foreign Affairs and Communications to the Beirut newspaper al-Nahar; to this, he replies point by point with counterarguments mostly advocating for a halt to foreign influence and economic colonialism in Bahrain. Established in 1955, the National Liberation Front was the first left-wing party in Bahrain and was a major force in the March Intifada (1965), an event which eventually led to state independence in 1971, as well as the labour movement of the 1970s.
