(New York): Arthur A. Levine Books / Scholastic, 2007. Fine in fine jackets.. Complete set of first US editions - all but SORCERER'S STONE first printings - with the first 3 titles signed by Rowling and the final 4 signed by illustrator and cover artist Mary Grandpré. The Harry Potter series, about a boy who goes to a wizard school, has been the biggest literary phenomenon of our lifetime. These copies come from the personal collection of Mary and Robert Brown, longtime owners of Books, Bytes, and Beyond bookstore in Glen Rock, NJ, who hosted Rowling for an event in October 1999, where these three books were signed the same month as the US release of AZKABAN. Pottermania was just beginning to ramp up on this tour, but had not reach the fevered pitch of later releases and appearances. Due to the strength of the forgery market, Rowling signatures are justifiably suspect. Authentically signed copies with clear provenance, like this one, are therefore highly desirable. An excellent set with her early signature. 7 volumes, 9'' x 6'' each. Original publisher's color pictorial boards all. With all in publisher's original unclipped color pictorial jackets. SORCERER'S STONE: 22nd printing. First three titles housed in publisher's paper pictorial "Harry Potter Collection" slipcase. Light rubbing to slipcase. Touches of bumping to extremities. Bright, clean, and sharp overall.
