Dialogos españoles y arábigos en el dialecto de Marruecos, First edition of this pocket guide to Moroccan Arabic for Spanish speakers. The dialogues were drawn up by C. E. Baldwin's unnamed wife, who collected them at Mogador (Essaouria), and were then revised by William Mackintosh, field agent of the British and Foreign Bible Society in Morocco. The book opens by warning the reader that "the Spaniard who wishes to learn Arabic must abandon the preconceived idea of the order and construction of speech, and brace himself for the strangest permutations". It provides an overview of Arabic Maghribi script and basic grammar, proceeding soon after to thematic dialogues in Moroccan Arabic based on everyday life situations, including eating, tea drinking, food shopping, travel, health, writing, studying, and buying tailor-made clothes. Issued in the same year in an English-Arabic version, the Spanish edition was designed to complement José Lerchundi's grammar of Maghribi Arabic.
