Inquire · Offered by Peter Harrington

Typed letter signed concerning the imprisonment of Etzel trainees accused of possessing explosives. A file copy of a letter from E. D. Goitein, the lawyer for 34 detainees imprisoned in Acre, to Lieutenant-General George Giffard, the general officer commanding at Force Headquarters in Jerusalem. Goitein questions the conduct of the trial and the evidence used for conviction (documents "more stupid than dangerous").The prisoners were all linked to a training course held in 1939 at Mishmar HaYarden. Their arrest was part of a British clampdown, following the outbreak of the Second World War, on any threats to stability in Palestine.
