The Oxford Book of English Verse, 1250-1900. From the library of the British flying ace of the First World War, Arthur Rhys-Davids, with his ownership signature during his Eton years, dated 1913. Achieving 27 aerial victories, including over the German ace Werner Voss, Rhys-Davids was promoted to lieutenant on October 27, 1917. He went missing in action over Belgium later that day.First published in 1900, this work quickly became the standard anthology of English verse, with nearly a million copies sold during Quiller-Couch's lifetime.
