The Democratic Book 1936. First edition, deluxe signed issue, copy number 2: a unique and exceptional record of the Roosevelt administration, inscribed by Roosevelt beneath his portrait to his Vice President: "Franklin D. Roosevelt for John N. Garner April 14 1937", and further inscribed or signed beneath their portraits by eleven Cabinet members and senior Democrats.As issued, Roosevelt also signed the illustrated limitation leaf beneath a colour view of the White House. Published after the election, the book expands The Democratic National Convention 1936 with the party platform, election results, and statements by Roosevelt, his Cabinet, and Eleanor Roosevelt; Roosevelt also contributed the foreword. The deluxe signed issue was offered to Democratic donors at $250 a copy to discharge the campaign debt; the limitation is not stated but often cited as 2,500 copies. Copy number 1 presumably went to Roosevelt - it is now in the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library as part of the Donald S. Carmichael bequest.The further inscriptions are by:i) Joseph T.
