The Beatles Book. First editions of the first 57 issues of the official Beatles fan magazine. Including articles by roadies Neil Aspinall and Mal Evans, and photography by Leslie Bryce who travelled with the band, the magazine allowed close access between the fans and the band. It ran for a total of 77 issues, ending in December 1969.It was launched by Sean O'Mahony with the permission of Brian Epstein and the Beatles. The first issue had a print run of 80,000, which increased to a monthly run of 330,000 by the end of the year. O'Mahony, who wrote under the pseudonym Johnny Dean, decided to end the magazine at the end of 1969, writing that "The Beatles Book belonged to the Sixties … We can't do the job in the Seventies. This is the end of the Beatles era". Despite this, the magazine was revived in 1976 and ran until 2003.
