The Giraffe and the Pelly and Me. Proof copy of the first edition, with "Proof Copy only" stamped on the front free endpaper. Dahl and Blake had achieved considerable success with The Enormous Crocodile, and this second picture book was a worthy successor. Upon reading the typescript, Dahl's publisher stated, "Vintage Dahl. And with new aspects as well. What more could one ask?" (Treglown, p. 252).This copy features white endpapers, and the setting of the text is identical to the first edition.
