First Ardizzone editions, Steamroller signed by the author on the title page. Edward Ardizzone illustrated numerous children's classics, including Stig of The Dump and the Nurse Matilda books. The Little Train (1946) was first published under the name of the original illustrator and Greene's lover, Dorothy Craigie, and was not credited to Greene until the 1950s.
