ASTRONOMY Magazine began publication in August 1973, making 1974 its first full calendar year of publication. This collection therefore represents a very early and substantial run of the magazine, covering five complete years from 1974 through 1978. Included: 1974 — 12 issues, January through December 1975 — 12 issues, January through December 1976 — 12 issues, January through December 1977 — 12 issues, January through December 1978 — 12 issues, January through December 60 issues total These are the original individual magazines, not bound volumes or reprints. They have been stored by year in the five magazine storage cases shown in the photos, which are included with the collection. The issues document an especially interesting period in astronomy and space exploration, including the Viking missions to Mars, Comet West, planetary astronomy, cosmology, astrophotography, telescope making and observing. Contributors during this period included many prominent astronomers and science writers. Condition: These magazines are approximately 48–52 years old and are in generally good vintage condition. There is normal age and storage wear, including some discoloration, spotting, creasing and/or edge wear on individual issues. Please examine the photos carefully for representative condition.
