The cover shows significant wear including fraying and losses at the upper right corner and along the spine edge. Despite the cover damage, the William Beebe essay makes this an editorially significant issue. The back cover shows substantial losses to the paper along the right edge. Interior pages are intact and show toning consistent with age. The issue appears complete based on the photographs. Please examine all photographs carefully before purchasing. Cover art by Pierre Brissaud (1885–1964), signed “Pierre Brissaud 1925,” depicting a red macaw on a perch before plaid curtains and a garden window. Brissaud was one of the leading French Art Deco illustrators of his generation, trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He came from a distinguished art family — brother Jacques Brissaud, uncle Maurice Boutet de Monvel, cousin Bernard Boutet de Monvel. He contributed cover designs to Gazette du Bon Ton, Vogue, Vanity Fair, Fortune, and House and Garden, and was named among the “Knights of the Bracelet” — a celebrated group of French fashion illustrators singled out by Vogue in 1914.
